How To Choose Your Bridal Makeup Look

One of the most difficult decisions for a lot of brides is the makeup look that they want for their wedding day, a wedding day is going to be one of the most photographed days of a bride’s life therefore the makeup choice is so important!

One of the first tips I have for brides is on your wedding day you still want to look like you, if your usual style of makeup is a small amount of concealer and mascara then on the wedding day you aren’t likely to want a full coverage, glam makeup look with a bold red lip! Instead, you would want to incorporate your usual makeup style into a much more polished bridal version, so a light coverage foundation with a soft contour and a neutral lip would really highlight your features whilst still looking like you!

Another thing to consider on your wedding day is your colour scheme, you want your bridal makeup look to compliment your chosen colour scheme rather than clash with it. I always ask my brides their colour scheme and then suggest colours that I know will work well, for example a colour scheme of dark greens look gorgeous with a brown/gold smoky eye.

Before the trial appointment I always advise my brides to look at my past bridal makeup looks and choose any styles that they like, this is a much better option than using sites such as Pinterest as a lot of these makeup pictures are from photoshoots and can be highly edited. You want your makeup artist to be working off a realistic makeup look, therefore pictures of their previous work are the best place to gather ideas from.

Finally, you want to choose a timeless makeup look for your wedding day, your pictures are going to be looked at for years to come and therefore you don’t want to choose something that is in style at the time but is likely to go out of style very quickly.
